Keep It Simple Suspension

KISS Technologies by American Prosthetic Components, is famous for developing KISS-Suspension. Inventor H. Lee Mantelmacher, created several product lines of componentry and tools that have made a huge difference in the quality and comfort of patients’ lives. This lanyard type of suspension system is an alternative to other prosthetic attachment methods like suction sockets, pin locks, or sleeve suspensions. Velcro strap systems can offer several potential advantages:

  • Ease of use – Quick to put on and take off, which can be helpful for patients with limited dexterity
  • Adjustability – Straps can be tightened or loosened throughout the day as volume changes occur in the residual limb
  • Accessibility – Generally more affordable and simpler than some high-tech suspension systems
  • Comfort – May work well for certain limb shapes or for patients who have issues with other suspension methods
